Bella Hadid debuted her romance with art director Marc Kalman on her Instagram last Thursday, but according to Page Six, their romance isn’t actually new. The outlet was told by a source that Hadid dated Kalman privately for a year before going public. And the proof can be seen in paparazzi photos, where Kalman appears with Hadid in plain sight but not romantically linked.
A source told Page Six the two began dating in July 2020. “They hid it well,” a spy told the outlet. “If they went out, he would come out first, get the car, and then she would get into the car. They would drive to a location, and he’d drop her off but not get out and go park the car. They were very diligent about not being seen on a public street at the same time.”
Page Six reported that their first public sighting was on July 2, 2020 at Aimé Leon Dore café. They were seen exiting together, with Kalman right behind Hadid. He is in the navy shirt and has light brown hair:

And they appeared yet again on November 23, 2020, this time Kalman right next to Hadid and labeled by the photo agency as her “friend”:

During these outings, Hadid and Kalman made a point to never show any affection or PDA. “Not once, and most of the time they were with other people, which of course made it difficult to prove that they were dating,” the source said. Kalman also avoided being photographed with Hadid during events that could’ve really linked them: For example, Gigi Hadid’s birthday party earlier this year, which was extensively documented by paparazzi, Kalman did not go outside when everyone else did for food truck grill cheese, the source pointed out.
Page Six‘s source explained generally that it became clearer Kalman and Hadid were involved when Kalman’s car kept appearing at her New York City home. “This new guy [at the time] was driving her around in his Porsche, and then the Porsche was [at her place] overnight multiple times,” the source said. “So it was like, ‘She’s got to be hooking up with this dude.’”
That source theorized that the two went public around their one-year anniversary: “They basically came out on their anniversary—or somewhere around it.”
